Hi everyone. Welcome to lesson 4 of the 'Rudiment Series'. In this lesson, we will conclude our look at the 'Diddle' rudiments and I've created some backing tracks for you all to play along with. You will need to be comfortable playing all 4 rudiments and the corresponding grooves. If you're not sure what they are, go and watch the previous 3 videos. If you do know what they are and just need a quick reminder, the rudiments are as follows and next to them are the corresponding groove. Single Paradiddle - 8th note groove Double Paradiddle - Triplet feel Triple Paradiddle - 16th note groove Paradiddle-diddle - Half time shuffle The backing tracks last approximately 1 minute each and I would really encourage you to grab your sticks and play along.   https://youtu.be/8fwwSYbKKH4   *EXTRA LESSON* By the way... in the introduction clip, I played 3 of the 'Diddle' rudiments joined together. The sticking I play is as follows.. RLRR LRLL RLRR LRLL  (Paradiddles) RLRLRR  (Double Paradiddle) LRLLRR  (Paradiddle-diddle) LRLL  (Paradiddle). *END OF EXTRA LESSON*   Lesson 5 will be taking a look at double stroke rolls and some permutations.   Best of luck everyone and see you on the next lesson   Graeme

Hello and welcome again in my blog, I’m very proud and glad to be invited by Istanbul Mehmet cymbals to share with you this new  idea. For this new lesson I was inspired by the Koch Curve. Rather than using the rudiments in an original way, by changing the subdivision ( rate)  I bring a new idea and therefore a new melody. By practicing the different stages the way I suggest, you will gradually memorize them and integrate them into your own sound. There are as many possibilities as there are rhythmic variations. Hi everyone. In this lesson, we are going to take a look at Triple Paradiddles and Paradiddle-diddles. As usual, I will begin by showing you the correct sticking for each rudiment. Then, we will look at the correct stroke types and volumes before looking at more interesting ways of playing them round the kit. I offer some right hand and left hand ideas for both rudiments to be used as fills and grooves. This video also has some backing music to enhance the learning experience. Backing music will also be playing a big part in lesson 4 when we will be playing all 4 of the 'Diddle' rudiments in one lesson. https://youtu.be/pOtt9j_uOwo   Feel free to leave a comment after watching any of the videos in this series. I look forward to hearing from you. Graeme

Hi Everyone. Hope you've all had fun playing paradiddles and have tried some of the ideas in video number 1? Today, we are looking at the next 'Diddle' rudiment... a Double Paradiddle. In this video, you will learn the correct sticking of a Double Paradiddle. You will also learn the correct stroke types and volumes. When you're comfortable with the basic rudiment, I show various ways you can apply it around the kit incorporating your toms and play some different grooves. Remember, these are just a handful of ideas. There are many, many other ways of playing a Double Paradiddle. I'm simply offering a few ideas to get you started and hopefully you will find your own creative path. In the final section, I show what styles of music would work with this rudiment. Once again, I have not used notation as I don't want to exclude anyone from the learning process. https://youtu.be/2RLWF5vgT8M Lesson 3 will be coming soon and we will be taking a look at Triple Paradiddles and Paradiddle - Diddles in the same lesson.   Thanks for watching and see you on the next one.   Graeme
