Hi everyone. Welcome to lesson 5. This lesson will take a look at double strokes, the basic technique and a few combinations for you to try around the kit and incorporate the cymbals. I begin this lesson by showing a double stroke roll using controlled strokes. I then demonstrate the same roll again but this time, I use rebound technique. When you start getting the hang of rebound strokes (hold the sticks correctly please!), you can start exploring some of the different combinations. There are many different combinations but I have selected only 3 for this short video lesson. In this lesson, you will learn about 5 Stroke rolls, 6 stroke rolls and 9 stroke rolls. I've tried to come up with a way of using each different combo utilising the cymbals. The 5 strokes finish with a crash, the 6 strokes are used as a groove between the ride and hats and the 9 stroke is played as a groove on the hats. https://youtu.be/zR8oua4P7vw BTW.. if you have a keen eye, you may notice that my cymbal set up has changed. I'm now using a full set of 'Radiant' cymbals. My set up for this video includes a set of 14" hi-hats,  a 16" crash (left),  an 18" crash (right) and a 20" ride. Hope you enjoy video 5. Hi everyone. Welcome to lesson 4 of the 'Rudiment Series'. In this lesson, we will conclude our look at the 'Diddle' rudiments and I've created some backing tracks for you all to play along with. You will need to be comfortable playing all 4 rudiments and the corresponding grooves. If you're not sure what they are, go and watch the previous 3 videos. If you do know what they are and just need a quick reminder, the rudiments are as follows and next to them are the corresponding groove. Hi everyone. In this lesson, we are going to take a look at Triple Paradiddles and Paradiddle-diddles. As usual, I will begin by showing you the correct sticking for each rudiment. Then, we will look at the correct stroke types and volumes before looking at more interesting ways of playing them round the kit. I offer some right hand and left hand ideas for both rudiments to be used as fills and grooves. This video also has some backing music to enhance the learning experience. Hi Everyone. Hope you've all had fun playing paradiddles and have tried some of the ideas in video number 1? Today, we are looking at the next 'Diddle' rudiment... a Double Paradiddle. In this video, you will learn the correct sticking of a Double Paradiddle. You will also learn the correct stroke types and volumes. When you're comfortable with the basic rudiment, I show various ways you can apply it around the kit incorporating your toms and play some different grooves. Remember, these are just a handful of ideas. There are many, many other ways of playing a Double Paradiddle. I'm simply offering a few ideas to get you started and hopefully you will find your own creative path. In the final section, I show what styles of music would work with this rudiment.
