This time on "Lessons With Wil" we are taking a look at a linear phrase and turning it into some fun and simple fills and then some grooves as well.

Hi Everyone.
Just wanted to post my latest video.
I've been creating videos for the latest Trinity College drumming grades. This one is a grade 3 piece called 'Three Line Whip'.
Here is the link.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d4ItC2ZSc2E
Its a fairly long process to create one of these videos, and I've set myself the task of completing all grades up to grade 8, so Its going to take me a while!
The playing of the pieces is relatively easy (at this level) as my sight reading is good. But then I have to record it!
This particular piece took at least 10 takes as I would make tiny errors that I wasn't happy with. Then, I had to create a basic piano backing track, add a bass line and other synth sounds. Once the audio recording was finished, I was able to record the video.
Overall, I'm fairly happy with the final result, but I tried to be a bit 'arty' and filmed in sepia. I now think that although the cymbals and drums really shine out, the overall video is too dark. The next one will be much lighter.
Hope this video is of use to drum teachers and students around the world.

Hello and welcome in my blog. I’m very proud and glad to be invited by Istanbul Mehmet cymbals to share with you some exercises from my different books.
In this case, for this lesson from my book « Total Update » volume 1, I want to you show you how to apply and learn the process of conversion from scales to rhythmic phrases.
All that in Nañigo style.
For several Years already, pioneering drummers have been exploring the infinite richness of polyrhythms. By shifting meters for changing the pulse within a simple chart, new colors, climates and musical illusions are formed, bringing radiance and innovation tot the music.
Starting out from the rhythmical phrase of NAÑIGO and carried by the system with I developed, this compilation expresses my wish to extend as far as possible the concept of independence and coordination in drumming within the context of tasteful musicality.
So that you can better understand the principle of these conversions, here are some exemples.
I hope you’ll practice and enjoy this lesson.
